Michael Böcher

Michael Böcher is a German political scientist .

Life

Böcher is the son of a railroad worker. From 1991 to 1997 he studied political science, economics and media studies at the Philipps University in Marburg . After graduating in 1997 with a diploma in political science in Marburg , he worked as a freelance consultant and political advisor from 1999 to 2001. From 2001 to 2007 he was a research assistant in the Forest and Nature Conservation Policy Department at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . After completing his doctorate in May 2008, Faculty of Forest Sciences and Forest Ecology in GöttingenFrom 2008 to 2015 he was a research associate and working group leader in the Forest and Nature Conservation Policy department. From 2015 to 2016 he was a research fellow at the Institute for Political Science, Department of Policy Analysis and Environmental Policy, FernUniversität in Hagen . Since 2016 he has been a professor for political science with a focus on sustainable development at the Institute for Social Sciences at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg .

His main research areas are political science environmental and sustainability research, policy field analyzes of environmental, nature conservation and climate policy, regional governance in rural areas, scientific policy advice, knowledge transfer in environmental sciences, theories and methods of policy analysis and transdisciplinarity.

He lives near Giessen and has been a long-distance commuter for about two decades.
