Michael Brehl
John Michael Brehl C.Ss.R (born January 7, 1955 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Redemptorist Father and General Superior of the Redemptorists since 2009.
Michael Brehl came during his studies at the University of Toronto in 1975 the Congregation of the Redemptorists and studied at the Toronto School of Theology . He was ordained a priest on March 15, 1980 in Toronto . After serving as a chaplain in St. John’s , Newfoundland , he was a ward missionary and later head of his order's formation in Canada. He was Provincial of the Edmonton-Toronto Province. Among other things, he was a member of the Theological Commission of the Canadian Superiors Conference and moderator of the General Chapter of 2003 and 2009.
The General Chapter of the Redemptorists elected Michael Brehl C.Ss.R on November 4th, 2009 as the 17th Superior General of the Redemptorists with a term of six years.
