Michael Burkart

Michael Burkart (born July 27, 1960 in Singen (Hohentwiel) ) is a German botanist .

Burkart is the son of a gardener. He learned the gardening trade from his father before studying and embarking on a scientific career. In 1998 he received his doctorate at the University of Potsdam on the grassland vegetation of the lower Havelaue .

Burkart works at the Institute for Biochemistry and Biology at the University of Potsdam and is the custodian of the local botanical garden . He has been conducting botanical excursions for several years. Burkart primarily devotes himself to the vegetation of meadows, pastures and steppes.

Burkart worked as a technical advisor for the German edition of the botanical work Botanica .
