Michael Farr

Michael Farr (* 1953 in Paris ) is a British reporter and expert on the comic series Tintin and its author Hergé . Farr wrote several books about it and also translated books on the subject into English.

Life

Michael Farr was born in Paris in 1953 as the son of the Czech-Austrian Hildegarde Farr (née Pisarowitz ) and the British journalist Walter Farr. He attended Harrow School and later Trinity College (Cambridge) for a history degree. As part of this course, he initially dealt with technology; later he switched to the fine arts and graduated with an MA.

Farr then became a reporter for Reuters and later for the Daily Telegraph , for which he traveled around the world as a correspondent. After Farr first met Hergé, he began writing books about Tintin. Michael Farr was the first author to have full access to Hergé's materials and records. Farr used these materials for his first book, TinTin: The Complete Companion . Farr is multilingual and speaks English, French, German and Italian. His first book was written in English and French at the same time.

In 2003, Farr's documentary TinTin et moi was published . This documentation has also been translated into English. In 2004 Farr was interviewed by the BBC about the Tintin exhibition at the UK's National Maritime Museum .

Michael Farr lives in London with his German wife and daughter .
