Career

Fitzgerald learned to play soccer on the school team at Seiritsu Gakuen High School . He signed his first contract in 2008 with the Japanese first division club Albirex Niigata . He then played at Japan Soccer College (2009), Branches Kanazawa (2010-2011) and V-Varen Nagasaki (2012-2013). In May 2013, Fitzgerald obtained Japanese citizenship . In August 2013 he returned to Albirex Niigata. For Niigata he completed 94 first division games. In 2017 he moved to league rivals Kawasaki Frontale . In 2019 he moved to the second division club Albirex Niigata.

National team

In 2011, Fitzgerald made his debut for the New Zealand national soccer team . He has played a total of three international matches for New Zealand.
