Michael Francis Kolarcik

Michael Francis Kolarcik SJ (born 1950 in New Westminster ) is a Canadian exegete .

Life

He entered the Society of Jesus on September 7, 1968 and was ordained a priest on June 2, 1979. He earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA Honors, Philosophy), University of Guelph 1973 and Master of Divinity (M.Div.) From Regis College, Toronto School of Theology, University of Toronto, 1979. On May 29, 1989 he defended at the Pontificio Istituto Biblico his doctoral thesis The Ambiguity of Death in the Book of Wisdom 1–6. A study of literary structure and interpretation by Maurice Gilbert and Richard Taylor. Pope Francis appointed him in 2014 as rector of the Pontifical Biblical Institute for the three-year period 2014-2017.
