Michael Kortstock

Michael Kortstock (* 1954 in Coburg ) is a graduate engineer and was President of the Munich University of Applied Sciences from 2008 to 2016 . He is married and has one child.

After graduating from high school, Kortstock initially signed up for twelve years as a temporary officer in the Air Force . As part of his officer training, he studied electrical engineering at the University of the Bundeswehr in Munich and graduated in 1978 as a graduate engineer. He then worked as an officer for RADAR electronics at the Air Force Technical School. He later returned to the Bundeswehr University to work as a research assistant on his doctorate. He completed this in 1989. The dissertation is entitled “Evaluation of different measurement methods when electronic components are loaded with very fast pulses”. From 1985 to 1989, Kortstock was a lecturer at the Munich University of Applied Sciences, today's Munich University of Applied Sciences. In 1989 he was appointed professor in the faculty for mechanical engineering, vehicle technology, and aircraft technology. From 2001 to 2003 he was vice dean of the faculty and from 2003 to 2006 dean. In 2006 he then took up his post as Vice President. He was responsible for applied research and development. He was president of the university from 2008 to 2016.
