Michael Krause (born July 24, 1946 in Magdeburg ) is a former German national hockey player and sports official. He is married and has two children. He currently works as a lawyer and notary in Dortmund .

Michael Krause grew up in Cologne and joined the KKHT Black and White there. He played 82 times for the German national hockey team and took part in three Olympic Games . His greatest international successes were winning the European title in 1970 and Olympic gold in 1972 in Munich . In the final there against Pakistan on September 10th, Krause converted a penalty corner in the 60th minute to make it 1-0.

He and the entire Olympic team were rewarded with the Silver Laurel Leaf on May 25, 1973 for his athletic achievements .

In 1978 he moved from Bundesliga club Schwarz-Weiß Köln to TSC Eintracht Dortmund , where he has been spokesperson since 1988. From 1993 to 1999 he was President of the German Hockey Association , whose Honorary President he is still today. For many years he chaired the Dortmund district group of the German Olympic Society and was a member of the National Olympic Committee for Germany. From 2000 to 2003 he was chairman of the board of the Willi Daume Foundation and received the Olympic medal from the then IOC President Samaranch .

Michael Krause is a member of the rules committee of the World Hockey Federation.
