Michael Lockwood (Indologist)

Michael Lockwood (* 1933 ) is an American Indian with a doctorate , religious scholar and philosopher. He taught from the 1960s until his retirement at Madras Christian College (MCC) in Chennai , India .

Live and act

Lockwood taught philosophy at Madras Christian College in South India for over thirty years. His research was mainly in the field of Indology. With his colleague, Alake Vishnu Bhat , he published in 1994 "metatheatre and Sanskrit drama" ( metatheatre and Sanskrit drama). In 2005, both authors published another work on the classic Sanskrit drama: "Chārudattam: 'Torso of a Masterpiece" ( Charudattam : Torso of a masterpiece). A few years earlier, in 2001, Lockwood and several colleagues brought out the work “Pillava Art”. Lockwood is now retired and retired, the focus of his interest is also on the analysis of the relationship between Buddhism and Christianity .

With Ruth Lockwood he has two daughters Karin Lockwood, who works as a middle school health educator at the school of the American Embassy in New Delhi, and Anna Lockwood. His nephew is the photographer Ian Lockwood . Michael Lockwood lives in Rockland , Maine .
