Michael Lynn speaks about Cisco IOS vulnerabilities at Black Hat, 2005

Michael Thomas Lynn (born September 6, 1980 in Euless , Texas ) is an Internet security professional and a former employee of Internet Security Systems .

In July 2005, Lynn was a hot topic when he gave a black hat talk about possible security flaws in Cisco IOS , the operating system on routers and other network hardware from Cisco Systems. He discussed whether and to what extent exploits could be created that made the routers vulnerable over the Internet. Since Cisco has almost a monopoly on routing , this would cause a disaster for the usability of the Internet. He also supported the assumption that crackers are actively working to write working exploits for Cisco routers.

Michael Lynn now works for Juniper Networks , a network equipment supplier and direct competitor of Cisco.
