Michael Merschmeier

Michael Merschmeier (born December 17, 1953 in Münster ) is a German theater critic and author .

Life

Merschmeier studied German studies, theater studies, communication studies, philosophy and linguistics and graduated from the University of Berlin with his doctorate in 1985 .

From 1982 to 2001 Merschmeier worked as editor and publisher of the magazine “ Theater heute ”. Since 1995 he has been a publisher and since 2012 also managing partner of Friedrich Berlin Verlag - Der Theaterverlag - in which "Theater heute", " Opernwelt ", " Bühnentechnische Rundschau " and " tanz " and since autumn 2017, exclusively online, "Das TheaterMagazin "appear.

Long-term member u. a. the jury of the Berliner Theatertreffen, the Mülheimer “Stück” competition, the Kortner Prize, the Berlin Theater Prize and the Theater Advisory Board of the Goethe Institute ; for the same also editor of the film series "German Theater of the Present".
