Michael Nielsen

Michael Aaron Nielsen (born January 4, 1974 ) is an Australian - American mathematician and physicist .

Nielsen received his PhD from the University of New Mexico in 1998 . Together with Isaac Chuang , he wrote an important textbook on quantum information .

In 2007 he announced that he would like to devote himself more to open science in the future. Then he founded the Polymath project together with Tim Gowers and runs a wiki on his homepage to summarize the results.

Nielsen is a member of the Foundation for Open Knowledge . He has also been working at the Recurse Center since 2015.
