Michael Pauli (politician)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Michael Pauli (* before 1698; † 1713 in Kiel ) was a German politician and mayor of Kiel.

Life

Pauli came from Dithmarschen and worked as a lawyer and councilor in Kiel . He was elected mayor of Kiel in 1698. From 1702 to 1711 he held the office together with Asmus Bremer on an annual basis. Pauli was mayor in 1703, 1705, 1707, 1709 and 1711. Because Pauli and Bremer should have disregarded the ruler's orders, they fell out of favor. After Pauli promised to improve, he was reinstated. According to a new law, there should only be one mayor, so Asmus Bremer was initially disregarded and only became mayor of Kiel again after Pauli's death in 1713.
