Michael Pay

Michael Pay (born December 28, 1914 in Graz ; † October 5, 2005 in Hörgas-Enzenbach , Eisbach municipality ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From 1962 to 1975 he was a member of the National Council .

Live and act

After primary school, Pay attended the community school and subsequently learned to be a carpenter. He initially worked as a machine worker at the Puch works in Graz from 1930 to 1931 and was then unemployed. From 1937 he was employed as a laborer and from 1938 as an apprentice carpenter in the Konrad carpentry company in Graz. He passed the journeyman's examination during a leave from the front in the summer of 1943. From November 1945 to December 1951 he found work as a carpenter in the municipal business yard in Graz and became an employee. He also attended the two-year evening school run by the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions .

Pay was active as a local councilor in Voitsberg between 1958 and 1960 and was local councilor in Köflach from 1965 , where he was mayor from May 21, 1975 to December 10, 1978. He also held the office of District Secretary of the SPÖ-Voitsberg between 1952 and 1963 and was also a member of the state party leadership of the SPÖ Styria. He represented the SPÖ between December 14, 1962 and November 4, 1975 in the Austrian National Council.
