Michael Schwibbe

Michael H. Schwibbe (born November 23, 1948 in Brilon ) is a German psychologist and cultural anthropologist .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1967 at the humanistic branch of the Leopoldinum in Detmold, Schwibbe studied psychology at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . There he obtained his doctorate in 1981. rer. nat. at the biological faculty. After his assistantship at the Psychological Institute, he moved to the German Primate Center (DPZ) in Göttingen, took over the function of the IT / Communication department and received several teaching assignments from the Georg-August University. He completed his second degree in cultural anthropology in Göttingen in 1989 with a doctorate as Dr. phil.

Schwibbe has published more than ninety publications in international journals on psychophysiology , psycholinguistics , primatology and cultural anthropology . He is a founding member of the Society for Primatology GfP (1988) and the German Society for the History and Theory of Biology (1991) and acts as editor of the international journals "Primate Report" and "Lemur News". In 1985 Schwibbe organized the congress of the "International Primatological Society (IPS)" in Göttingen. At the German Primate Center, the Senckenberg Museum in Frankfurt, Munich and Leipzig, he organized exhibitions and lectures on the evolution of hominids as part of the Leibniz Association WGL . In 1994 Schwibbe published a census of primates in human hands in Europe and North Africa. From 1985 to 2007 he was chairman of the IT working group of the Leibniz Association. He had a seat and a vote on the DPZ's supervisory board between 1986 and 1995.
