Michael Zellmer

Michael Zellmer (born August 14, 1977 in Oldenburg ) is a former German national water polo player and two-time Olympic participant.

Michael Zellmer played for Waspo Hannover-Linden until 2003 , and since 2003 for the successor SG W98 / Waspo Hannover . With Waspo he won the German Cup in 1998 and 2003, and the German Supercup in 1998 and 2000.

From 1997 to 2008 Zellmer played for the German national water polo team, mostly as the second goalkeeper next to Alexander Tchigir . He took part in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , when the German team finished fifth, and the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing (10th place). At the 2005 World Water Polo Championships , the German team finished 9th in 2007the team came in eighth. In 2003 and 2008 the team was sixth at the European Championships. Zellmer completed 266 international matches during this time. (As of August 29, 2008). Following his playing career, Michael Zellmer acted from January 1, 2009 to June 30, 2015 as the first full-time team manager of the German men's national water polo team.
