The St. Michael's Church , the Evangelical Church in Stutensee district Blankenloch . The foundation stone for today's church building was laid on May 24, 1857 and three years later, on May 20, 1860, it was inaugurated. Part of the previous building from 1521 was integrated into the building. During the renovation in 1974, the foundations of an even older church were discovered.

Construction periods

The age of the oldest found foundations is unknown. The oldest datable find is a tomb from 1366, the inscription of which names a nobleman named Kraft von Gamburg. The first documentary evidence of the church building is dated April 29, 1392. In the document kept in the General State Archives in Karlsruhe, the sale of a farm and the third part of the church set in Blankenloch from Gerhard von Staffort to Heinrich Kunzmann is recorded. The next construction period began with the laying of the foundation stone for the next building on March 3, 1521. A corresponding inscription on a lead plate was discovered during excavations in 1974 in the church. This church was partially demolished in 1857 because it had become too small. The late Gothic choir was moved 6.70 m to the east, the nave was increased from 6.80 m to 11.20 m ( measured at the eaves ) and the tower from 29 m to 57 m. The interior has also undergone major changes and the number of seats has increased from 580 to 1200, although according to today's safety regulations only 700 seats are shown.
