Michal Brůna comes from a handball family. His father, father-in-law and uncle were successful handball players.
The 1.90 meter tall back player played until 2002 at Baník Karviná , then until 2003 at Toulouse Union HB , in the 2003/2004 season again in Karviná and Frýdek-Mýstek. In November 2011 he was appointed interim trainer at HC Empor Rostock together with Jens Dethloff .
In March 2012 Michal Brůna announced his departure from HC Empor Rostock at the end of the 2011/2012 season; for the 2012/2013 season he moved to the Polish club GAZ-SYSTEM Pogoń Szczecin , which was promoted to the PGNiG Superliga Mężczyzn , Poland's first division, after the 2011/2012 season .
