Live and act

Michel Pinçon was born on May 18, 1942 in the municipality of Lonny in the Ardennes. In 1967 he married Monique Charlot, a sociology student. The marriage made it possible for the couple to work in Morocco for a while as part of the Service National en Coopération , a voluntary service in the context of development aid. After their return, they continued their studies at the Université Libre de Vincennes. Then they worked at the CNRS , he did research in the field of the world of work, she on the subject of social division in urban areas .

One of his first publications ( Désarrois ouvriers, familles de Métallurgistes dans les mutations industrial et sociales ) is the development of the iron and steel industry in the Meuse valley dedicated to the social consequences. The research work and publications of the following period are generally joint work of the two spouses. She is particularly interested in social norms, noble and bourgeois dynasties, social climbers, and the leisure activities and habits of better-off families. A synthesis of their work appeared under the title Sociologie de la bourgeoisie . Her aim is to create an anthropology of the privileged in French society today.

Political commitment

In 2011, Pinçon announced its support for Jean-Luc Mélenchon , the candidate for the Front de gauche in the 2012 French presidential election .
