Michel Probst

Michel Probst (born April 21, 1960 ) is a Swiss teacher and politician ( FDP ). From 2006 to 2015 he was a member of the government of the Canton of Jura .

biography

Probst received his education in Porrentruy and attended the teachers' seminar there , which he completed in 1980. He then graduated from the University of Bern in visual education and art history. From 1981 to 2006 he taught at the primary school in Coeuve . In 1982 he joined the FDP and was immediately elected a member of the Jura parliament in the same year . He belonged to this until 1995 and again from 2002 to 2006. From 1993 to 2000 he served as mayor of Coeuve.

In September 2006, Probst ran for election to the cantonal government and achieved the best result with 12,469 votes. He took up his post on December 22, 2006 and took over the management of the Department for Environment, Cooperation and Communities (later the Department for Economy and Cooperation). He presided over the government regularly in 2009 and 2013. After a political career spanning more than three decades, he decided to step down from his office at the end of 2015 and no longer stand for election. Probst has been a member of the Board of Directors of EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg since May 2016 .

Probst is married and has two children.
