Michel Rasquin

Michel Rasquin (born September 19, 1899 in Pétange , † April 27, 1958 ) was a Luxembourg journalist and politician of the LSAP .

After Rasquin worked for many years as editor of the Escher Tageblatt , he began his career as a politician after the Second World War . After a short time he had risen from secretary of the Esch local section Esch to party president of the Letzebuerger Aarbechter party .

From December 1945 to July 1948 Rasquin was a member of the State Council. On June 6, 1948, Michel Rasquin was elected to the Chambre for the first time. Shortly afterwards he was elected mayor of Esch an der Alzette , which office he carried out from April 1949 to 1951. On July 3, 1951, Rasquin became Minister for Economic Affairs of Luxembourg in the Dupong-Schaus-Bodson government. In January 1958 he resigned as Minister of Economic Affairs and was appointed the first Luxembourg member of the European Commission .
