Microhoria terminata is a beetle from the family of the flower sap beetle (Anthicidae). The genus Microhoria is represented in Europe with 86 species, in the Palearctic with 186 species.
features
The beetles of the species Microhoria terminata are 2.3-4.2 mm long. They have a variable color. The most common form has two yellow spots per wing cover - one in the postbasal area, the other in the pre-apical area. The head and pronotum are dark brown to reddish in color. The head is usually a little darker than the pronotum. The antennae are usually pale yellow in color, with the 4 to 5 apical antennae segments being conspicuously dark.
distribution
Microhoria terminata is widespread in southern Europe and the Mediterranean. In the south, the occurrence extends to North Africa (Algeria and Tunisia), in the east to Central Asia (Turkmenistan). The species was first detected in England in 2018.
Way of life
The species is mainly nocturnal. The beetles can be found on flowering bushes, but also in detritus (plant remains).
