Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) was a certification in the IT field awarded by Microsoft .

In order to receive it, seven MCP exams ( M icrosoft C ertified P rofessional - individual exams on client / server / network issues ) had to be passed. The exams consisted of six compulsory exams and one elective exam. The exams could be acquired up to the Windows Server 2003 operating system . It was then replaced by the MCITP. The abbreviation MCSE is used in the current certification program, but nowadays stands for Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert . According to Microsoft, around 395,000 people worldwide took the NT4-MCSEs exams and 288,000 people took the Windows 2000 exam.

MCSE successor

With the appearance of the new Windows server version ( Windows Server 2008 ), the MCSE was replaced by the Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP). It was possible to upgrade the already acquired MCSE certification to MCITP or the newly introduced Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS).
