Mid Airlines was established in 2002 and commenced operations with three of Norwegian Air Shuttle acquired Fokker 50 on.

Incidents
Mid Airlines has had no fatal incidents in its history, but one plane had to be written off:
- On June 16, 2003, a Fokker 50 ( registration number ST-ARA) came off the runway when taking off at Khartoum airport , three passengers were injured and the aircraft had to be written off.
