Middle Island (meaning "middle island" translated from English) is an island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located 2.5 km south of Foreland Island in the entrance to Destruction Bay of King George Island .
Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations mapped the island in 1937 and named it after its geographic location.
