Foreland Island is a small island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located 1.5 km east-southeast of Taylor Point off the east end of King George Island .
The island had been known to seal hunters since at least 1821. Its name is derived from the North Foreland headland located 6 km to the northwest .
