Midori Ishii

Midori Ishii ( Japanese 石井 み ど り , Ishii Midori ; born June 23, 1949 ) is a Japanese politician.

Ishii studied dentistry at Tsurumi University until 1976 . In 1980 she opened a clinic for children's dentistry in Hiroshima. In the following years she made a name for herself as a member of the Liberal Democratic Party as a health politician in Hiroshima Prefecture. From 2004 she worked in the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Affairs . In the same year she became director of the Japanese Dentists Association. In 2007 Ishii was elected to the Sangiin , the upper house of the Japanese parliament , where she was a. Chaired the Social and Labor Committee (2013–14), the Consumer Protection Committee (2014–15) and the Accounts Committee (2018–19). She did not run for the 2019 upper house election after two personal terms [= four of the chamber].
