Midrash Aseret ha-Dibrot

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Midrash Aseret ha-Dibrot , German: Midrash of the Ten Commandments , is a Jewish script that was created after 600, not an actual Midrash , but a collection of Jewish and other stories that illustrate the Ten Commandments in an often curious way, whereby the connection with the original Commandment is often only weak.

There are many different editions and edits. It is probably the oldest collection of Hebrew stories (apart from the Ben Sira alphabet).
