Migjeni Theater

The Migjeni Theater ( Albanian  Teatri Migjeni ) is located in the northern Albanian city ​​of Shkodra .

The theater building is located in the city center near the Sheshi Demokracia . It was built in 1958 and named after the Shkodra-born poet Migjeni (1911–1938). It is known for its romantic and poetic productions , often mixed with national-political themes.

The first performances took place here from 1879 in the previous building. Since women were banned from acting until 1919, men had to take on women too. Many of Bertolt Brecht's plays were shown here during the socialist regime . Tinka Kurti was an important actress of the ensemble for more than 60 years .
