Tinka Kurti

Tinka Kurti (born December 17, 1932 in Sarajevo , Kingdom of Yugoslavia , now Bosnia and Herzegovina ) is an Albanian actress . In 60 years of activity she has appeared in over 50 films and over 120 theater roles.

She was honored as a People's Artist of Albania and is considered the grande dame of Albanian cinema.

biography

Tinka was born in Sarajevo as the oldest of four siblings. Her father Dedë Kolë Thani was Albanian , her mother Hungarian . When she was five, her family left Sarajevo and moved to Shkodra in northern Albania, where she spent much of her life and joined the theater at a young age. At the age of 16 she had her first appearance in a supporting role in the play Dasma Shkodrane (Shkodran Wedding) .

In 1947 she was excluded from the art school in Tirana , the Liceu Artiksti Jordan Misja , after only three months and was never able to graduate. Nevertheless, she continued her acting career. In 1949 she was accepted into the ensemble of the Migjeni Theater in Shkodra. She worked there for over 60 years.

Kurti did not limit himself to the theater, however. In 1958 she was selected as the female lead for the first Albanian feature film Tana . While shooting with Naim Frashëri, the first kiss in the Albanian film was shot; but the scene was censored. As a result she had numerous roles in various film productions, including as mother Pashako in Yjet e netëve të gjata , as mother in Çifti i lumtur , as Sinjorina Mançini in Vajzat me kordele të kuqe and as grandmother in Zemra e Nënës .

Tinka Kurti had a son who was also an actor. He died in 2018 at the age of 65.

«Pilier féminin du théâtre et du cinéma albanais pendant plus d'un demi-siècle, elle a joué sur tous les registres et créé des personnages alsi diversifiés que convaicants. »

"As the female pillar of Albanian theater and cinema for more than half a century, she has acted in all genres and created characters that are as diverse as they are convincing."

- Josif Papagjoni : Le Dictionnaire universel des créatrices

In 2003 the actor and director Esat Teliti produced a biographical documentary to honor her work. It bears the name "Tinka".

Kurti is still in front of the camera even in old age. She said that they fear neither old age nor death, only the aging of the brain. "Prandaj dua të punoj." (German: "That's why I love to work.")
