Miguel Campos
Miguel Campos (* 1844 in Santiago de Chile , † 1889 ibid) was a Chilean painter.
Campos entered the Academia de Pintura at the age of fourteen and was considered one of the most gifted students of Alejandro Ciccarelli . In 1868 he traveled to Europe on a grant from the Chilean government and continued his education at private schools in Paris. I.a. In 1868 he won the First Prize of the Accademia di San Luca in Rome.
After his state scholarship was canceled in 1873, he returned to Chile and taught at the Escuela Benjamin Franklin of the Sociedad de Artesanos de la Unión . His most famous student was the painter Pablo Burchard Eggeling . A self-portrait of the painter is in the possession of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes .
