Miguel Eduardo Rodríguez Torres (born January 21, 1964 ) was Venezuela's Interior Minister from March 21, 2013 to October 24, 2014 .

Life

He participated in the attempted coup of Hugo Chavez in part on February 4 1,992th He was tasked with taking the La Casona presidential house. Several people were killed in the course of this operation. He was then imprisoned, but was pardoned by President Rafael Caldera .

After the murder of former Miss Venezuela Mónica Spear in 2014, he declared that "certain adjustments would be made to police structures and procedures".

One of the minister's bodyguards is suspected of killing two or three people during the February 18, 2014 protests.

On March 13, 2018, he was arrested on charges of being involved in "actions against peace and public order and in conspiracies and conspiracies against the monolithic unit of our National Bolivarian Armed Forces (FANB)".

The American journalist Eva Golinger saw his arrest as an attempt to harm his political movements. Rodríguez Torres tried to build a left opposition within the Chavist movement.
