Eva Golinger

Eva Golinger (* 1973 in New York ) is an American lawyer and publicist of Venezuelan descent.

Life

Eva Golinger grew up in the United States and studied law at the City University of New York and the University of New Mexico . She maintains an offshoot of the Calderon law firm in New York and deals with human rights issues and artist immigration. She was involved in the selection of judges for the UN International Court of Justice in The Hague and has lived temporarily in Caracas since 1997 . She is a member of the preliminary committee of the International Organization for a Participatory Society .

Golinger is a declared supporter of Hugo Chávez and his Bolivarian Revolution . The New York Times she says, she was "a soldier of the revolution". Golinger writes for the Correo del Orinoco , a newspaper financed by the Venezuelan government, which is supposed to commemorate the title of a newspaper published by Simón Bolívar . According to the New York Times profile, this newspaper is comparable to the Cuban party newspaper Granma .

After the coup against Hugo Chavez in 2002, she dealt with US policy towards Venezuela and used the Freedom of Information Act to publish documents about it. According to this, anti-Chavez groups in Venezuela received US $ 50 million in US tax money from 2001 through the National Endowment for Democracy , USAID and other channels.
