Mónica Spear

Mónica Spear Mootz (* 1. October 1984 in Maracaibo , † 6. January 2014 in Puerto Cabello ) was a Venezuelan - American actress and award-winning beauty queen .

life and career

For her theater science studies at the University of Central Florida Spear moved to the US. After graduation, she moved back to Venezuela. In 2004 she was elected "Miss Venezuela" there, which qualified her for the Miss Universe 2005 election. There she reached fourth place.

After completing her modeling career, Spear concentrated on acting in various Spanish-language telenovelas . In 2008 she married the British entrepreneur Thomas Henry Berry. In 2012 the couple divorced again.

Together with her ex-husband, Spear was ambushed and shot dead by strangers on January 6, 2014 at around 10:30 p.m. local time while a car broke down on an expressway between Puerto Cabello and Valencia . Their five-year-old daughter survived the attack and was injured.

The first convictions were made in September 2014.
