Mihály Sztárai
Mihály Sztárai (also Mihajlo Starin, Michael Starin ) († 1575 ) was a Hungarian reformer.
Sztárai began his studies in Sárospatak and then became a Franciscan and studied in Padua . Around 1530 he joined the Reformation . He founded over a hundred Protestant congregations in southern Hungary and Slavonia. He wrote numerous lyrics and probably composed some of the melodies as well. He also created a number of plays that were among the first in the Hungarian language.
He is occasionally confused with the composer Mihály Sztáray from the 18th century.
