Mihalj Kertes

Mihalj Kertes (born August 29, 1947 in Bačka Palanka ) is a Serbian civil servant and politician. He was a close confidante of the former President of Serbia Slobodan Milošević and customs chief of Yugoslavia .

In December 2010 he was sentenced to eight years in prison by a Serbian court for abuse of office. According to the indictment, he was a member of a criminal group that had government funds disappeared in Cyprus and in this way caused damage amounting to 60 million euros to the state because the funds did not benefit the state, but the Socijalistička Partija Srbije and various security services.
