Miho Oki ( Japanese 沖 美 穂 , Oki Miho ; born March 8, 1974 in Shimizu ) is a former Japanese cyclist . She is the first Japanese female cyclist to race in Europe.
Athletic career
Miho Oki was the most successful Japanese female cyclist of the 2000s. Between 1999 and 2008 she was Japanese road racing champion ten times in a row - this championship was held for the first time in 1998 - and twice in the individual time trial . She competed three times - in 2000 , 2004 and 2008 - in road races at the Olympic Games. In 2004 in Athens she achieved her best placement with rank 20. In 2007 she finished third in the time trial at the Asian Cycling Championships, and the following year she became Asian runner-up in road racing.
Oki rode for Dutch and Italian teams throughout her cycling career and was the first Japanese female cyclist to compete in races in Europe.
Since the end of her active career, Miho Oki has worked as a consultant for the Japan Cycling Federation , is a member of the women's committee of the Japanese Olympic Committee and works as a trainer at the Japan Keirin School .
