Mikael Nilsson (born September 28, 1968 in Falköping ) is a former Swedish football player . He played in defense and midfield.

With 609 games, 306 of them in Fotbollsallsvenskan , Nilsson is the record player for the A-team at IFK Göteborg . He played at the club until 2001 and won the Swedish championship seven times with him in 1990, 1991, 1993, 1994, 1995 and 1996 and the Swedish Cup in 1992. In addition, he was a Swedish international for a long time in the early 1990s. He was a member of the national team in his home country for both the 1992 European Championship and the 1994 World Cup , but was not used in either tournament.

Nilsson should not be confused with Mikael Nilsson , the Swedish national player and 2006 World Cup participant of the same name, who was born in 1978 .
