Mikk Murdvee (born March 20, 1980 in Tallinn , Estonian SSR ) is an Estonian conductor , violinist and writer .

Life and music

Mikk Murdvee graduated from the renowned Tallinn Music High School ( Tallinna Muusikakeskkool ) in 1998 with a degree in violin . Teachers were his mother Niina Murdvee (* 1950) and the violinist Harald Aasa (* 1922). In 1998/99 Murdvee studied violin at the Estonian Music Academy in Tallinn and from 1999 to 2005 at the Sibelius Academy in the Finnish capital Helsinki . In 2000 and from 2002 to 2007 he also studied orchestral conducting and from 2005 choral conducting .

Mikk Murdvee has conducted numerous orchestras in Finland and Estonia. In 2007 he made his debut at the Estonia Opera and Concert Hall in Tallinn. Since autumn 2007 Murdvee has been chief conductor of the Helsinki Student Symphony Orchestra Ylioppilaskunnan Soittajat . He lives in Helsinki.
