Heimiswil microfilm archive
The microfilm archive in the town of Heimiswil in Canton Bern is home to documentation and copies of most worth preserving cultural heritage of Switzerland on microfilm .
history
At the end of the 1960s, a military cavern was taken over at the former Ried sandstone quarry in Heimiswil , which was officially put into operation in 1979 as the federal government's microfilm archive. The current capacity is 96,000 films, which corresponds to around 77 million A4 pages.
The archive has also been used by Liechtenstein since 2016 .
