Gianfranco Miletto

Gianfranco Miletto (born March 4, 1960 in Turin ) is a Judaist , author and lecturer in Jewish studies .

biography

Miletto studied Classical Philology and Hebrew / Semitic Studies at the University of Turin and received his doctorate in 1991. Between 1996 and 1999, he carried out research and teaching at the Martin Buber Institute for Jewish Studies at the University of Cologne . In 1999 he completed his habilitation at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg with a research grant from the German Research Foundation . The subject of his habilitation thesis was “The world of knowledge, the knowledge of the world and the wisdom of Israel. Motives, cultural-historical background and means for the integration of profane knowledge into the Jewish tradition of Abraham ben David Portaleone (1542–1612) ” . In 2003 Miletto received the license to teach Jewish studies / Jewish studies at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. Since 2003 he has also taught Jewish studies at the universities of Düsseldorf, Munich, Heidelberg and currently in Cologne (substitute professors).
