Ulrichen military airfield

The Ulrichen military airfield ( ICAO code LSMC ) was a military airfield in the Swiss canton of Valais .

The highest military airfield of the Swiss Air Force was operated as a Reduit airfield until 1999 in the former municipality of Ulrichen .

Then the airfield was partially dismantled and a swimming lake was created. Part of the slope still exists. In 2009 the vertical take off Bell / Agusta BA609 was tested here.
