Military Council for Justice and Democracy

The Military Council for Justice and Democracy ( Arabic المجلس العسكري للعدالة والديمقراطية, DMG al-maǧlis al-ʿaskarī li-l-ʿadāla wa-d-dīmuqrāṭīya , French Conseil militaire pour la justice et la démocratie ), a junta of 17 officers, was the highest state organ in Mauritania after the military coup on August 3, 2005 . The chairman of the council was Colonel Ely Ould Mohamed Vall . In March 2007, the Military Council passed power to President-elect Sidi Mohamed Ould Cheikh Abdallahi .
