The Bundeswehr career centers ( KarrC Bw ) are federal authorities directly subordinate to the Federal Office for Personnel Management of the Bundeswehr (BAPersBw) . They perform the job of the professional development service as well as the tasks of the district military replacement offices that remain after the suspension of compulsory military service (e.g. looking after reservists and military replacement services ).

In the structure of the Bundeswehr personnel recruitment organization adopted in 2019, there are five large career centers in Hanover , Mainz , Düsseldorf , Munich and Berlin with assessment centers. There are also 16 smaller, regional career centers, of which only those in Wilhelmshaven , Stuttgart and Erfurt have an assessment center. The 110 career advice offices belonging to the career centers  are combined with 86 location teams from the career advancement service to form 113 advice offices. Career centers without assessment are located in Dresden , Kassel , Kiel , Magdeburg , Nuremberg , Potsdam , Saarlouis and Schwerin .

history

As part of the realignment of the Bundeswehr , the Centers for Recruiting Young Talent (ZNwG) were renamed Career Centers (KarrC Bw) with Assessment (AC) on December 1, 2012 . In addition to the existing assessment centers, three new career centers have been put into operation in Erfurt , Stuttgart and Mainz . In addition, eight further career centers without assessment were created, which are responsible, among other things, for reservist support and regional career advice. The career centers perform the tasks of the former district military replacement offices.

tasks

The tasks of the career centers are to advertise and arouse interest in military and civil careers in the Bundeswehr and to hold information events at general and vocational schools, trade fairs and other training institutions as part of the recruitment and recruitment of young people. They offer comprehensive consultations and check the employment requirements of potential applicants. The career centers determine the suitability of young, unserved persons and re-employers for service in the Federal Armed Forces in the career paths of teams and non-commissioned officers with and without porters, as well as of volunteers doing military service and career changers. In addition, they are responsible for determining the potential of soldiers as part of the status decision to become a professional non-commissioned officer and an officer in the military technical service . The career centers conduct selection procedures for applicants for civil service careers in the intermediate non-technical administrative service and the technical administrative service in the fields of fire brigade and telecommunications and electronic reconnaissance. For the aptitude of officer candidates and the prospects for the upscale and higher service that's Assessment Center for management of the Bundeswehr (ACFüKrBw) in Cologne is responsible.

In the area of reserves, the career centers draw reservists for services, carry out reservist care and support voluntary reservist work. In addition, the Bundeswehr's career advancement service is integrated into the career centers.

At the career centers as well as at the ACFüKrBw, the physical and intellectual performance and personal and health suitability of applicants for the soldier's profession is examined. To do this, the applicant goes through several performance tests, a medical examination and a diagnostic interview with a test group. This review group works according to the commission principle and consists of a review officer and a psychologist. Depending on the files and the personnel situation, there may also be individual examinations by a psychologist or officer. After the interview, this review group assesses the applicant's character aptitude and makes a career recommendation. Then the positively tested applicant goes on to the planning department, where suitable posted positions are shown to him in the job exchange, if this is possible.
