Military Merit Medal 1814 (Saxony-Altenburg)

The Military Merit Medal 1814 is a joint foundation of the Dukes Bernherd Erich Freund von Sachsen-Meiningen , Ernst I von Sachsen-Coburg and Saalfeld and Friedrich von Sachsen-Hildburghausen and took place in October 1814 after the end of the campaign against Napoleon .

It was awarded in gold for officers and in silver for men and non-commissioned officers who had proven themselves and distinguished themselves in a special way on the campaign.

The front of the medal shows the Saxon coat of arms surmounted by a crown . All around the inscription FOR GOD AND FATHERLAND 1814 . Back from a laurel wreath surrounded OF BRAVERY AND MERIT .
