Miljatino Evangelist

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Miljatino Evangelistary is a manuscript in Church Slavonic that was probably written in Novgorod in the early 12th century . On 160 sheets of parchment it contains the texts ( pericopes ) from the Gospels of the New Testament for the liturgical reading from the Wednesday of the sixth week after Easter to the Tuesday before Easter (the first and last sheets are missing). In the text there is a colored miniature of the Evangelist John , which was probably added from another manuscript. On the last sheet there is a note from the scribe, the priest Domka from Novgorod.

The manuscript was owned by PK Frolow until 1812. Today it is kept in the Russian National Library in Saint Petersburg .
