Milka (Bible)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Milka ( Hebrew מִלְכָּה) is a Hebrew woman's name and means the ruler . Two women bear this name in the Bible.

Milka, Nahor's wife

Milka, who was descended from Abraham's brother Haran with her sister Jiska , was married to Nahor , Abraham's other brother. (Nahor had married his niece, which is not forbidden later in the Law of Moses). She gave birth to eight sons who had the following names: Uz (firstborn), Bus , Kemuël , Kesed , Haso, Pildasch , Jidlaph and Betuël . Betuël is the father of Rebekah ( Isaac's wife). Milka is therefore the great grandmother of Esau and Jakob on the maternal side ( Gen 11.29  EU , see also Gen 22.20-23  EU , 24.15 EU , 24.24 EU , 24.47 EU ).

Milka, the daughter of Zelofhad

Another name bearer is Milka, a daughter of Zelofhad from the Manasseh tribe . Her sisters were called Machla , Noa , Hogla and Thirza ( Num 26.33  EU , see also 27.1 EU , 36.11 EU , 17.3 EU ).
