Millicher heap
The Millicher stockpile is a slag heap of coal mine Sophia Jacoba in Hückelhoven . The volume of the 70 meter high dump is 10 million cubic meters of overburden on an area of 32 hectares.

The Millicher Halde is located directly on the L117 between Millich and Hückelhoven.
history
In 1936, the building up of the Millicher heap began and continued until 1972. The heap was planted as early as the 1970s and has been home to a larger common toad population since then . In 2002, the dump was released from mining supervision.
Recreational use
In 2008, a staircase of around 120 m and 400 steps to the lookout point was built , and hiking trails and lookout points were set up. An eleven-meter-high steel “sky staircase” as a viewing platform on the heap offers views over the Jülich Börde to the edge of the Eifel and over the Rurn lowlands .
