Minerva (radio, Vienna)

The Minerva company was an Austrian radio manufacturer . It was named "W. Wohleber Ges.mbH “in Vienna I. Trattnerhof founded in 1919 . From 2007 to 2011 the Viennese company Robust Electronics manufactured LCD televisions under the "Minerva" brand.

  • 1924 Start of radio production under the name RADIOLA, from 1925 AERIOLA is used as the 2nd brand name.
  • 1926 Move to Vienna VII., Zieglergasse 11. 1929 The final company name (company) MINERVA is determined.
  • 1945 shortly before the end of the war, part of the production facilities was destroyed by bombs.
  • In 1946 Minerva resumed radio production. In 1950 the company's founder, Wilhelm Wohleber, dies.
  • In 1968 the widow Elisabeth Wohleber sold the active company to Max Grundig .
  • 1972 The name Minerva is no longer used for radios.
  • 2006 Grundig sells the rights to the Minerva brand.

From 2007 the Viennese company Robust Electronics manufactured LCD televisions under the "Minerva" brand. At the beginning of May 2011, Robust Electronics announced that it was terminating all development and sales activities for the Minerva brand, as the need to invest in developing a new generation of the company seemed too risky, especially in a generally difficult environment for televisions.
