PT. Minerva Motor Indonesia (MMI), based in Jakarta , Indonesia, is a manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters. In Indonesia and neighboring countries, the motorcycles are u. a. sold under the brand name Minerva Sachs.
Products
Motorcycles with engines up to 250 cm³ are produced there, mostly for the Asian region. The Indonesian state subsidizes every motorcycle sold with a premium. 8000 units are currently being built per month. The plant was expanded in 2013 to meet growing demand. Indonesia is the third largest motorcycle market in the world.
The motors are produced by SYM in Taiwan . Minerva Sachs also takes part in motorcycle races.
Minerva Sachs
The New Superior Ltd. based in Hong Kong , acquired 99.5 percent of the shares in Nuremberg-based Sachs Fahrzeug und Motortechnik GmbH in 2006 . The sellers were the managing partners, who acquired the shares in a management buy-out in 2002. The management has now left the company. The Nuremberg location is to be retained as a development and production location for the two-wheeler manufacturer Sachs. Most recently the company had around 120 employees. The New Superior Ltd. is a subsidiary of a Hong Kong-Chinese vehicle group that is one of the largest suppliers for the production of motorcycles. The group supplies frames and rims to motorcycle manufacturers in Europe. Since 2008 there has been a co-branding and production agreement with the German manufacturer SFM (formerly Sachs Fahrzeug- und Motorentechnik GmbH), which establishes the use of the Sachs brand. The logo of the motorcycles reads Minerva Sachs Germany . The company's slogan is "Designed in Europe - ridden around the world".
